this year i'm participating in the sketchbook project. already it seems perfect for me, because i can leave pieces unfinished, and it won't matter - because it's only a sketchbook! so i've done a few pages already, and have started off with a technique i've never used before, but which i so far really like. are you working on a sketchbook (for the project or not...)?

i'm revamping my blog, and have decided to start adding things that i find in the weird wide web, things that i find cute. (read: kitsch!). but i did read a quote by Robert J Stoller that stated: kitsch is the corpse left when art loses its anger. i can't locate my anger, so for now, i'm happy with kitsch!

watches from we wood. i am absolutely in LOVE with these watches! i prefer the rectangle face, but the one with the round face is a women's. maybe i'll just have to have both!

haha. these make me giggle.

these are so cute. if only my niece and nephew weren't so old. perhaps i should just get them for myself...

and finally - these frames are so convenient for those living in blank-wall-purgatory (also known as renting). they're cardboard frames that can be attached to walls with blutack. simple.

i found roses today in my 2 favourite colours. so happy with them! if i could paint everything in these colours, i would. in fact, maybe i'll start doing that! also, it's hydrangea season, and so many gardens in my area have them growing, which makes walking around my neighbourhood even more pleasant than usual.

i just printed my christmas print on fabric! that's right folks, FABRIC! i'm so happy with how it turned out too - there's so much detail. and all i needed was fabric, freezer paper, an iron and a home printer. i also added some gold and silver stitching to jazz it up a bit. it's going to make a most cute wall scroll for next to the dining table on christmas day!

i went shopping today and found a brilliant second hand store. it was so big, i didn't have time to go through the whole place, but will definitely be popping back in tomorrow! for now, here's what i got today. i think it's a toothbrush holder, but i'll use it to hold my paintbrushes. i took the photo using a lightbox that i made today. you can find the tutorial here.

...riding hood goes to business school! and along the way, gets all serious. a bit boring, i know, sorry kiddies, but that's what happens when you become an adult! hehe. so this is my first experiment with acrylic paint. i have to admit, i cheated a bit, and used coloured pencil over the top to add colour and definition. but i'm loving the fact you can use light colours over dark! i also painted it on dark, recycled cardboard - which i really like the look of. i think i'm going to stick to this medium for a while - just with more fun pictures!

even though i prefer summer, i do love a few things about winter. snuggling up in bed for one. another is the fashion you're able to wear. so i drew a pic inspired by some winter-woolies-magic i saw recently. a neck warmer like this will definitely be high on the priority list for keeping the cold at bay this winter!

i've come back to albany, in western australia, in order to spend christmas with my family! i was only on the gold coast for just over a week, and loved it, but now miss the weather! at any rate, i've done another illustration, as you can see above. albany is definitely conducive to drawing! merry christmas, and have a great time with all your families and friends...

it's perfect weather for drawing in albany at the moment, as it's gotten no higher than 16 degrees c today! heater has been on all day. have to admit, i'm looking forward to the oppressive heat and humidity of the gold coast again!

this one's definitely not like any of my other work, but there's a reason behind it! i live in a complex, where the speed limit is 5km/h, yet there's an idiot who lives here and insists on squealing his tyres around every corner. so i thought this was appropriate for him, and i'm so tempted to leave it on his windscreen! for those of you that live in aus, you'll probably remember the ad the government brought out about idiots driving, and they had girls doing this hand gesture to them. i loved that ad!!!

i actually liked using font in my drawing though, so i might do that again. i probably won't be posting too much for a little while, as it's assignment time at uni, and i need to knuckle down!
